2026 Volvo XC60 Review, Specs, Price
The 2026 Volvo XC60 is a sleek and understated luxury small SUV. The XC60's overall skills and pleasant ride make it a strong contender even though it will not light them up at the stoplight. With its distinctively Scandinavian design, the XC60 provides a stylish substitute in the fiercely competitive small luxury SUV market. First-rate cabin materials and finishes, enhanced infotainment speeds and image quality, and updated exterior style. In this crowded and fiercely competitive market, the 2026 Volvo XC60 presents a modest but respectable alternative by drawing heavily on its Scandinavian background.
Every piece of contemporary Volvo styling contributes, including the obligatory Thor's Hammer headlamps and a new front grille for 2026 that mimics the XC90's fasciae's diagonal pattern. With roomy and comfortable front seats and a five-passenger cabin made of materials that prioritize quality over ostentation, the Nordic design is carried inside. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 247 horsepower in conjunction with an integrated starter-generator. It is not the fastest SUV in the class, but it never seems terribly underpowered, and the comfortable ride is made possible by the pretty precise steering reaction and sufficient grip. The XC60's balanced appeal as a deserving and distinctive alternative in the segment is further enhanced by infotainment changes for 2026, which include a supposedly quicker operating system.
The wider grille of the 2026 XC60 has a new diagonal design that highlights the Volvo emblem, and the taillight shroud has been subtly darkened. In addition to three paint colors—Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red—new wheel options are also available. The XC60's 9.0-inch touchscreen has been replaced with a new 11.2-inch one for infotainment. Volvo also promises to have faster operating speeds and greater image quality. Depending on the model and extras, the 2026 Volvo XC60 might cost anywhere from $50,995 to $62,095. Core $50,995. Plus $55,595. $60,945. $62,095 for the Ultra Black Edition. The mid-range Plus trim is the greatest option in the collection. It is slightly more expensive than the base Core trim and comes with 19-inch wheels (the Core has 18s). Adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assistance, laminated glass for a quieter interior, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.
A 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 48-volt hybrid system powers the Volvo XC60, producing 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Standard all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission receive the power. During a recent test drive, we observed that the XC60 is not as obviously athletic as the Porsche Macan or BMW X3, but it turns accurately and the chassis seems well-planted. Even though comfort is prioritized above aggressive dynamics, impacts from rougher roads may still enter the cabin. Here, confidence—not aggression—is crucial. According to Volvo, the XC60 can reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, which is around a second slower than the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class and Audi Q5. Although the 2026 XC60's fuel efficiency has not yet been disclosed by the EPA, the model from the previous year was estimated to get 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. We anticipate that the 2026 model will perform similarly without any powertrain modifications; we will update this article with our actual results when we test an XC60 with the B5 powertrain on our 200-mile highway fuel economy route at 75 mph.
2026 Volvo XC60 Review, Specs, Price
The Volvo XC60 offers a refined interior experience that rivals luxury vehicles from higher price brackets, thanks to its elegant Scandinavian design and use of premium materials. With a cabin that mirrors the sophistication of more expensive Volvos, stepping inside feels like indulging in both comfort and style—much like having your kladdkaka and eating it too. The dashboard features minimalist lines, soft-touch surfaces, and distinctive trim elements that reflect Volvo's dedication to craftsmanship. Every detail, from the knurled knobs to the intuitive infotainment system, is thoughtfully placed to create a calm and upscale environment. Moving to the second row, passengers are treated to generous legroom and headroom, offering adult-sized accommodations that make longer journeys enjoyable for everyone. The seats are plush and supportive, continuing the comfort found in the front row. While the XC60 doesn’t top the class in cargo space, it still holds its own with respectable versatility. With the rear seats folded flat, the XC60 can fit up to 20 carry-on suitcases—placing it mid-pack among its competitors. However, interior cubby storage is on the smaller side, and the lone cargo-area bin is one of the most compact measured in its class. Still, the XC60 balances form and function exceptionally well.
Starting with the 2026 model year, all XC60 models come with a new 11.2-inch touchscreen which replaces the XC60's outgoing 9.0-inch unit. Volvo claims the new screen's pixel density is 21 percent better than the outgoing screen and that its operating speeds are up to twice as fast as the previous unit thanks to the integration of Qualcomm's updated Snapdragon Cockpit software. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard, as is Bluetooth connectivity and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot powered by a 4G LTE data connection. Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audio System: 10-speaker High Performance audio system (standard), 14-speaker Harman Kardon Premium audio system (optional), 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
Volvo's commitment to safety is evident in the XC60, with driver-assistance features such as automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist standard across the range. Standard Safety Features: automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Optional Safety Features: adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode. For information about the XC60's crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Relative to its rivals in this segment, the XC60 has an appealing warranty policy. Three years of scheduled maintenance is a convenience that Volvo buyers won't need to pay for, either. Limited Warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles. Powertrain Warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles. Complimentary Maintenance: 3 years or 36,000 miles.
