The 2026 Volvo XC60 is a sleek and understated luxury small SUV. The XC60's overall skills and pleasant ride make it a strong contender even though it will not light them up at the stoplight. With its distinctively Scandinavian design, the XC60 provides a stylish substitute in the fiercely competitive small luxury SUV market. First-rate cabin materials and finishes, enhanced infotainment speeds and image quality, and updated exterior style. In this crowded and fiercely competitive market, the 2026 Volvo XC60 presents a modest but respectable alternative by drawing heavily on its Scandinavian background. 

Every piece of contemporary Volvo styling contributes, including the obligatory Thor's Hammer headlamps and a new front grille for 2026 that mimics the XC90's fasciae's diagonal pattern. With roomy and comfortable front seats and a five-passenger cabin made of materials that prioritize quality over ostentation, the Nordic design is carried inside. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 247 horsepower in conjunction with an integrated starter-generator. It is not the fastest SUV in the class, but it never seems terribly underpowered, and the comfortable ride is made possible by the pretty precise steering reaction and sufficient grip. The XC60's balanced appeal as a deserving and distinctive alternative in the segment is further enhanced by infotainment changes for 2026, which include a supposedly quicker operating system.

According to Volvo, the XC60 can reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, which is around a second slower than the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class and Audi Q5. Although the 2026 XC60's fuel efficiency has not yet been disclosed by the EPA, the model from the previous year was estimated to get 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. We anticipate that the 2026 model will perform similarly without any powertrain modifications; we will update this article with our actual results when we test an XC60 with the B5 powertrain on our 200-mile highway fuel economy route at 75 mph.

With the rear seats folded flat, the XC60 can fit up to 20 carry-on suitcases—placing it mid-pack among its competitors. However, interior cubby storage is on the smaller side, and the lone cargo-area bin is one of the most compact measured in its class. Still, the XC60 balances form and function exceptionally well.

Starting with the 2026 model year, all XC60 models come with a new 11.2-inch touchscreen which replaces the XC60's outgoing 9.0-inch unit. Volvo claims the new screen's pixel density is 21 percent better than the outgoing screen and that its operating speeds are up to twice as fast as the previous unit thanks to the integration of Qualcomm's updated Snapdragon Cockpit software. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard, as is Bluetooth connectivity and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot powered by a 4G LTE data connection.
