The 2026 Polestar 4 won’t be every buyer’s preference for an electric vehicle. Its size, speed, and some of the beautiful interior design and lighting features are just a few of its many positive aspects. However, a unique driving experience and the absence of a back window—instead the driver utilizes a camera-enabled rearview mirror—may drive purchasers away. Although the Polestar 4's sleek coupe-like roofline adds to its visual appeal, its boxier sister is more useful. Pleasant interior design, roomy cabin, and quick acceleration. The 2026 Polestar 4 is a sportier and more streamlined variant of the Polestar 3 SUV, with a coupe-like appearance. The most intriguing difference between the 4 and the 3 is that the 4 features a computerized rearview mirror instead of a back window. The 4 also has a slanted rear end, similar to many coupe-like SUVS, and has a distinct taillamp design. While driving the 4 in Europe, we hardly noticed that the back glass was missing, despite the fact that this would seem to create an incredible blind spot. There are two powertrain options: a 268-hp single-motor and a 536-hp dual-motor. The more potent version can propel the Polestar from 4 to 60 mph in an estimated 3.5 seconds, according to C/D. We were thrilled after driving both models, but we thought the 4 lacked some of the driving engagement of its Polestar 3 sister. Its suspension setting effectively balances comfort and sport, and the single-motor drivetrain, which we tested in prototype form, is no slacker when it comes to acceleration. However, when its dampers are adjusted to their most hard setting, the dual-motor variant we rode is the athlete. The softer option eliminates the majority of road bumps without wallowing, making for a more comfortable ride. All models come with a large 15.4-inch infotainment display with Polestar's latest Google-based interface. The system features Google Assistant and Google Maps and offers access to Google Play. However, the information can also be projected onto a 14.7-inch head-up display. Surprisingly, Polestar doesn't offer the same three-year complimentary maintenance program as Volvo, its parent company. Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles. Electrical components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. No complimentary scheduled maintenance.
There are better SUVs than the 2025 Polestar 4, which sits last in our luxury electric SUV rankings. Some purchasers will be turned off by its peculiarities and a harsh ride, and it is neither the cheapest nor the best value in the category. Additionally, there is not much room for the class. The base model performs well, but the dual-motor trim offers better performance. The Polestar 4's stunning, contemporary interior is its best feature, and the single motor may be sufficient for those who do not need great acceleration or all-weather capabilities. The XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, its Volvo relatives, would potentially be of interest to buyers. The XC40 is one of our best-rated luxury electric SUVs, and both are similar in terms of cost and dimensions. The Volvos have a sleek, contemporary cabin that will appeal to Polestar enthusiasts. The Genesis GV60 is another excellent choice. Although the cabin is a bit more elaborate, its pricing and range are comparable to those of the Polestar 4.
