2025 BMW X7 Review, Specs, Price
The 2025 BMW X7 is an amazing package that combines comfort, luxury, and enjoyment. The infotainment system has a steep learning curve and third-row space is a little restricted, but these drawbacks are more than made up for by this big SUV's thrilling personality and elegant manner. The BMW X7 did not waste any time in securing a place on the VIP list, despite being fashionably late to the full-size luxury SUV party—it went on sale in 2019. The X7's agile handling and array of powerful engine options set this full-size SUV apart from its competitors, even while its opulent cabin, air suspension, and extensive list of standard equipment enable it to perform its job with skill.
Big spenders who require speed can choose the unique Alpina XB7 variant with its 630-hp twin-turbo V-8. The base engine is a deliciously smooth 375-hp turbocharged straight-six, but clients who want more urgency can choose a 523-hp turbocharged V-8. All models in the portfolio come equipped with all-wheel drive. Although power is obviously abundant, the X7 lags behind rivals in terms of cargo capacity and third-row legroom. However, that is not a major issue from the first two rows, where the X7's luxurious materials, smooth ride, and elegant design work together to pamper the passengers on any kind of journey. Even though its squint-eyed front end is still a source of controversy, its starting price of about $85k seems like a good deal in a class where MSRPs and XXL dimensions are the norm.
New eye-activated lane change technology is included to the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package, which enables hands-free driving up to 85 mph when conditions permit. Now, the driver only needs to glance in the appropriate rearview mirror to approve the system's suggested lane shift. In the past, turning on the turn signal verified the lane change. Depending on the specification and extras, the 2025 BMW X7 might cost anywhere from $85,475 to $153,395. Alpina XB7 $153,395; xDrive40i $85,475. M60i $113,075. The M60i's twin-turbo V-8 has undeniable visceral appeal, but most customers find it difficult to justify the price difference. A well-rounded set of standard amenities, such as four-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, heated front seats, a power tailgate, and more, are included in the base X7 xDrive40i, which performs excellently. We would also add one of the Vernasca leather upholstery options; the Premium package, which is available, comes with gesture controls, soft-close doors, and a head-up display, but we have found that the latter is superfluous and occasionally unreliable in normal use.
The ride quality of the X7 is smooth and enjoyable. Although the steering is not very light and there is little body roll when cornering, the handling is excellent for an SUV this size. There are three engine options available for the BMW X7. A 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbo engine with 375 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque is the base powerplant. In 5.6 seconds, this vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that powers the M60i variant produces 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.

The M60i can sprint from zero to sixty miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. The top dog in the range is the Alpina XB7. The SUV can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 3.9 seconds because to its 631-horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine, which also produces 590 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission with smooth shifting are standard on all versions. For a huge SUV, handling is surprisingly light, and the X7's steering is precise and well-balanced. Although BMW now provides 23-inch wheels for the first time, the X7's ride quality suffers on the larger rollers. The X7's smallest wheels are 21 inches in diameter.
With EPA ratings of 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, the xDrive40i model with the base inline-six is relatively efficient for the class. With EPA estimates of 16 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, the M60i's V-8 engine is naturally a little thirstier. On our highway fuel economy route at 75 mph, the M60i's 23 mpg figure pleasantly pleased the team. The base 2025 BMW X7 can accommodate seven passengers, while variants with second-row captain's seats can accommodate six. The seats are sturdy and cozy enough for lengthy journeys, and the front two rows are incredibly roomy. Despite being considerably smaller, the third row is nevertheless cozy for kids and offers the option of heated seats for further comfort. The 12.8 cubic feet of storage space behind the third row is minimal for the class. The rear seats may be folded down to provide 48.6 cubic feet of room, and the second and third rows can be folded down to create up to 90.4 cubic feet. Although these figures are lower than those of certain competitors, they are nevertheless good for the segment.
For extended rides, the way-back seats are also not very spacious for people. However, there is plenty of cubby storage inside the X7, so nobody will be complaining. With all of the back seats stowed, we were able to fit 33 carry-on bags, whereas the team was only able to squeeze three behind the third row. A 14.9-inch touchscreen located in the curved glass panel on top of the dash controls the X7's iDrive infotainment system. The system can also be controlled by gesture controls, which are more gimmicky than practical, and a big rotary knob on the center console. Every X7 comes equipped with BMW's Digital Key, which enables customers to remotely operate vehicle functions through a smartphone app, in addition to a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription required). Wireless charging and a more potent Harman/Kardon sound are optional.
In addition to a number of more sophisticated alternatives, every X7 comes with a variety of standard driver-assistance technologies. Visit the websites of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to learn more about the X7's crash test results. Automated emergency braking and standard forward-collision warning are important safety features. standard rear cross-traffic warning and blind-spot monitoring. typical lane-departure alert. BMW provides a competitive powertrain and limited warranty, which is supported by above-average free scheduled maintenance. The limited warranty is good for 50,000 miles or four years. The powertrain warranty is good for 50,000 miles or four years. Three years or 36,000 miles are covered by free maintenance.
